GOD IS SOVEREIGN
Who IS in charge of your life?
The Scriptures again and again record the fact that God is sovereign over the affairs of the world.
I came across a glaring example of God's sovereignty in Exodus 14 this morning.
The scene is the Hebrews escaping from captivity in Egypt. God uses Moses to lead them out of their bad situation. God sees what the Egyptians are up to. He plans for and directs the Hebrews.
(TFTD) No matter what the enemy plans to do to you - God knows and He will lead you, if you let Him.
Next, in this exciting account we see the angel of God (v.19), moved and came between the two peoples bringing light to the Hebrews and darkness to the Egyptians (v.20).
(TFTD)The Scriptures tell us that the people of the world are walking in darkness, but that as God's people we have the "light of life" (John 8:12).
We then see that God goes ahead of the Hebrews and opens the way for them through the sea(v.21-23).
(TFTD)We need to remember the past - how God worked in the lives of the Hebrews. They never forgot it and they reflected on it often through the Psalms. Remembering the past can encourage us as we face a future which may be uncertain.
This account concludes with the Egyptians being defeated.
(TFTD)The result of this episode caused the Hebrews to "put their trust in Him (the LORD) and in Moses his servant". 1 John 5:4 says this, "This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith"
Have a great day,
Peter W Clark.

Thank you for this thought. For me, it is a timely reminder that, although God's actions don't always make sense from our perspective, he is sovereign indeed! This reminded me of Isaiah 55:8-9 -

neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.
"As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts."
