In Titus, Paul gives us examples of the characteristics that a Christian leader must possess, characteristics that the leader must NOT possess and the reason why we must be careful in the selection of leaders....
WHAT A LEADER MUST NOT BE LIKE...
"Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless - not overbearing, not quick tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.." (1:7)
WHAT A LEADER MUST BE LIKE....
"...Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it." (1:8,9)
WHY MUST WE BE CAREFUL IN THE SELECTION?
"For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers....." (1:10)
Have a great day,
Peter Clark.
