Wanting To Satisfy The Crowd?

"Wanting to satisfy the crowd" Mark 15:15

As Christians we face this temptation every day.

This we see was the motivation for Pilate to release Barabbas and to hand Jesus over to be crucified.

Pilate was in trouble....the Jewish leaders had threatened to write to Rome about him. He had already been warned about uprisings in his hot and dusty outpost. A further report might cost him advancement, or his position.

And so....he gives Jesus over to them...although he had seen no guilt in Jesus....and had no reason to condemn him to death.

He "wanted to satisfy the crowd"....poor pathetic Pilate.

TFTD: We are no better than Pilate if we live "to satisfy the crowd" and do not stand up to our Christian convictions.

Have a great day,

Peter Clark.
