Where Our Strength Comes From!

David, in the Old Testament, has been anointed as King, but Saul is still reigning.

Saul, in fact, has been hunting him down out of jealousy and so David and his men are staying in Philistine territory.

The sovereign God is looking after David. On this one occasion David and his men are stopped from going to war against Saul and the Israelites. While this is happening the Amalekites attacked David's fortress at Ziglag, plundered it, and carried away the woman and children. When David and his men returned and found this they "wept aloud until they had no strength left".

But then, "David found strength in the Lord his God" (1 Samuel 30:6).

They then chased down the Amalekites and took back their wives, children and goods.

TFTD: It is a good thing to recognise where our strength comes from and to avail ourselves of it.

Have a good day,

Peter Clark.
