What Do We Want From Our Preachers?

Isaiah was not a popular prophet. Why? Because he spoke truth.

God's people would have much preferred to hear pleasant things, nice things, not confronting things...

Isaiah 30:9-11 (New International Version)

9 These are rebellious people, deceitful children,
children unwilling to listen to the LORD's instruction.

10 They say to the seers,
"See no more visions!"
and to the prophets,
"Give us no more visions of what is right!
Tell us pleasant things,
prophesy illusions.

11 Leave this way,
get off this path,
and stop confronting us
with the Holy One of Israel!"

How sad it is when this moves , from the mind, to speech and then to action in some way.

TFTD: What do we want from our preachers? Surely, we want to be confronted with God's truth.

Have a great day,

Peter Clark.
