I did so last Sunday...and after 44 years of Easter readings, I saw something new:
Luke 23:48 (New International Version)
48When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away.
Jesus had already prayed in verse 34, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
And then in verse 48 (above) "all the people" or "the crowd", who had come out to watch the spectacle, go home beating their breasts in repentance.
TFTD: This "Good Friday" offers us forgiveness of our sins, after we are repentant. As one old hymn says, "what a saviour."
Have a great day,
Peter Clark.
