I try to keep in front of me a clear picture of my role. This, I think, helps me to be effective in what I do.
In the lectionary reading on Sunday I found these two gems. I have seen them before - but they jumped out at me in the evening service - after I had read them two times already through the day. It is like I was blinded to them until I was ready.
As I read them that passage at night - I almost stopped - like I had received a blow between the eyes.
These are two statements which present clearly to me what I am to do in my future ministry (and what I have been trying to do in my past ministry)
Colossians 1:25 (New International Version)
25I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness—
Colossians 1:28 (New International Version)
28We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.
"Perfect" in the sense of "complete" or "finished off"
Have a good day,
Peter Clark.
