The great mystery to the Jews 2000 years ago was that the Gentiles (everyone who wasn't a Jew) were claiming to be included in God's Kingdom.
They thought...."How could that be?"
But this "mystery" (which is a truth revealed - and so a mystery is not something we don't know - BUT SOMETHING WE DO KNOW) has been made clear in Scripture..
"This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 3:6)
Paul's ministry was described as declaring this mystery....
"....grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery." (vs8-9)
