John 10:27-28
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."
Jesus is speaking. His sheep listen to/ read his Word. They follow(actively) Him - not passively.
He gives us eternal life and we have the assurance that we will NEVER perish and also that NO-ONE will ever be able to SNATCH us way.
We are people who have been given free will and so (sadly) we can turn our back on God.
But there is great assurance for us.
